David Gest reportedly ‘blew thousands of pounds gambling’ before his death

David Gest reportedly died with debts of half a million pounds after he ‘blew thousands of pounds gambling’ in the months before his death.

The 62-year-old passed away on Tuesday, and was found dead in a London hotel.

Now a friend close to the star has revealed how he would allegedly ‘spend 24 hours a day chasing the jackpot’

and that he was planning to sell his huge collection of Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson memorabilia to raise funds.

‘David wouldn’t think twice about spending £10,000 in one sitting,’ the source told The Sun.

‘His losses didn’t seem to affect him but in a 12-month period it was a substantial amount, it was six figures. It was an addiction,’

The star of reality TV, including Celebrity Big Brother and I’m A Celebrity,

was found dead in a suite at the Four Seasons Hotel in Canary Wharf, where he had been staying for the past six months.

Police have said that his death was ‘non-suspicious’.

A spokesperson for David told the newspaper that ‘David enjoyed gambling and was a popular figure at casinos around the world’.

‘He loved to tell stories of his casino triumphs. As far as we are aware, David has left no gambling debts anywhere.’
